During an open enrollment period, when a file is submitted for membership, it goes directly to the enrollment department. Ardis makes sure that the applicant meets the requirements as stated in the enrollment ordinance. If the applicant passes this step and all of their papers are complete, Ardis calls an enrollment committee meeting. The enrollment committee consists of 3 members and one voice, no vote, staff person. It is the responsibility of the enrollment committee to approve or reject an application. Ardis then contacts the potential member and informs them of the decision of the committee. The Tribe’s enrollment department is ALSO responsible for maintaining the enrollment files. All files are kept in a fireproof locked safe and only Ardis and the enrollment committee has access to these files. All files are kept confidential.
