DAWN LENGER
In August 2009, Dawn Lenger became the Assistant to Melissa Brown, Housing Director. From October 2007 until August 2009, Dawn served as the Tribal Justice Grant Coordinator overseeing the Tribal Court Assistance Program Grant pertaining to the research and development of a Tribal Court. Prior to that position, Dawn was the Executive Assistant to John Shagonaby in the Development Office from March 2004 – October 2007. Before beginning her work with the Tribe, Dawn was the Police Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police with the Hudsonville Police Department for several years. Dawn brings many years of experience to her position and enjoys being able to help those around her through the skills and experience she has gained over the years.
In 2000, Dawn and her five children were accepted as members of the Tribe. Her tribal family is very important to her and is honored to serve the Tribe in any capacity. She has learned much about her heritage since becoming a member but realizes that there is still so much more to learn. Dawn is excited about the Tribe’s future through increased programs and services that will be available to the tribal community.
COLEEN NESSNER
Coleen Nessner has served on the Housing Committee for the Gun Lake Tribe Housing Department since 2001. She is the mother of 3 and a grandmother of 6. Coleen has assisted with the Tribe’s Annual Adult Christmas Party for 3 years and also with the Tribe’s Annual Kids’ Christmas Party for 2 years. Along with sitting on the Housing Committee, Coleen has served as Chairperson for the Elder’s Committee since January of 2003. Coleen takes pride in watching projects go from paper to completion.
FRANK SPRAGUE
Frank Sprague has served on the Housing Committee for the Gun Lake Tribe Housing Department since 2001. He is the Lead Man/Foreman for Pioneer Construction and has worked there for 5 years. Frank has worked in construction for 13 years and is a licensed builder for the state of Michigan. Along with sitting on the Housing Committee, he is an Ambassador for Americans for Indian Opportunity and works with youth groups teaching Native language and traditions. With 4 children and 1 grandchild, Frank is the son of Chairman Sprague and resides in Grand Rapids. Frank is proud to help people in his community while receiving appreciation from those members served through Housing programs.
