GLT Commitment to the Community

Our Commitment

The members of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians of Michigan maintain our elders vision, integrity, spirituality, culture and economic self sufficiency by protecting our sovereignty, treaty rights, traditions, land and natural resources for our future generations.

The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians of Michigan consider ourself to be a sovereign yet vibrant part of the Western Michigan heritage.

We aspire to create responsible culture and economic opportunities for growth that will benefit tribe members, neighboring communities as well as the entire state of Michigan.

Public Safety

The Gun Lake Tribe is committed to providing a safe experience at its gaming facility. To that end, the Tribe will have our own security force designed to ensure that our casino patrons remain safe and sound. Indian casinos are known for their security and regulation. By design, casinos are very secure establishments.

In addition to our security force, the Tribe will enter into a partnership with the Allegan County Sheriff's Department. The Tribe will pay for 4 deputies, 1 sergeant, and all the associated equipment, including police cars. The anticipated start-up costs for the 5 officer's personal equipment is $25,780 and an additional $220,165 for their 5 police cars. The tribe estimates the total cost to range from approximately $392,000 in the first year to $457,000 by the fifth year of the agreement.

These officers will remain under the supervision and control of the Sheriff's Department, but the Tribe will deputize officers so that they may enforce the laws on our reservation lands.

In addition, if the Tribe ever needs additional law enforcement services (i.e. The Grand Opening or other events), the Tribe will pay for the actual costs of providing said services.
