    JOHN SHAGONABY
    Chief Executive Officer

    John L. Shagonaby is the Chief Executive Officer of MBPI, Inc., the economic development corporation of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians. John started this role in March 2004. Previously, John served as the Executive Director of the Tribe's administrative office. John has also served on the Tribal Council for 12 years as a Council Member, Treasurer and Vice-Chairman.

    John graduated from the Haworth College of Business with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management with a Minor in General Business. John has also had extensive trainings and certifications with the Native Nations Institute at the University of Arizona, Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development and with the National Indian Gaming Association.

    John has served Indian Country for the past 15 years in various capacities such as the Midwest Region representative to the National Indian Gaming Association Board of Directors and a Minneapolis Area Vice President to the National Congress of American Indians. John is currently serving on the Board of Trustees to the National Indian Child Welfare Association.

    ANGIE PIGEON
    Director of Development
    Angie Pigeon is the Director of Development of MBPI, Inc., the economic development corporation of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians. Angie started this role in April 2009. She graduated cum laude from Western Michigan University in 2005 with a Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in Management.  Angie is a member of the Pigeon Family, Heritage award winners known for their Black Ash Basketry.  Angie was honored with an apprenticeship from Michigan State University Museum's Michigan Traditional Artist Apprenticeship Program in 2005.  She has instructed a wide variety of audiences including schools, Native American Tribal Organizations, Colleges, and Museums about Black Ash Basketry and Native Culture  for the past 10 years.

    MARILYN SCHMIDT
    Executive Assistant

    Marilyn S. Schmidt is the Executive Assistant providing administrative support to the CEO and the Director of Development. Prior to accepting this position in Nov. 2007, Marilyn has been a Commercial Lines Underwriter for a Managing General Agency & Insurance Broker, for over 15 years.

    Marilyn graduated from Kalamazoo Valley Community College with an Associates Degree in Business Administration and is currently working to obtain a Bachelors degree from Western Michigan University. She enjoys her family time with her husband, daughter & golden retriever. Marilyn serves as a volunteer in Kid’s Ministry at her church. Favorite activities are game nights, scrap booking and dining out.

    DAN HOSTETER
    Tribal Employment Liaison

    Daniel Hosteter currently serves the Citizens of the Gun Lake Tribe as the Tribal Employment Liaison. His purpose is to work with contractors to ensure that Gun Lake Tribal citizens have as many opportunities as possible to work on the Gun lake Casino project. He also is responsible for protecting the rights of Tribal citizens that are involved directly with the project. Dan’s personal mission is, “To bring respect and honor, through hard work and dedication, to all those that have sacrificed to make this vision a reality.” He has been serving in this position since October 2009.

    Dan became a citizen of the Gun Lake Tribe in 2000, along with his mom, two brothers and two sisters. After graduating from Freedom Baptist Academy, Dan attended Grace Bible College from 2006-2008, while majoring in Youth Ministry. Some of his courses included Developmental Psychology, Biblical Theology, Ministry Management and Dispensational Theology. Dan also played basketball for Grace Bible College and learned a lot about leadership during his time there. Dan hopes to resume his college career in the future in business management or human resources.
